VNRs, B-roll and PSAs
Effective video news releases, B-roll, and public service
announcements.
A Video News Release (VNR) is a news story that is
privately produced by a corporation or organization and distributed,
usually by satellite, to TV newsrooms. Good VNRs, meaning
good stories, well-produced, are widely used. Consumer-oriented
medical stories are often very successful.
You can't find producers and crews with more experience producing
TV news stories than we have. We'll help frame your story,
shoot and write it, and support it all the way through distribution
and reporting results.
B-roll dates back to early TV broadcasting as a term
and is now used to mean the sequences of pictures for a television
news story. Sometimes called a "courtesy tape," B-roll is
handed out to TV people as part of an electronic press kit,
providing them with the visuals for broadcast news stories.
B-roll boosts a story from print to TV. Our B-roll has shown
up on 60 Minutes and thousands of other outlets. It's one
of the most powerful low-cost products in the video tool kit.
PSA stands for Public Service Announcement and is
a TV (or radio) commercial for a non-profit organization.
They are given to TV stations which, if they're good, will
run them for free. We've done a number. One of them is in
its third edition now and has run every year for nine years.
